Reminder that students who were issued a chromebook from the school need to bring that chromebook (in the case that it was issued in) daily to and from school. We do not have enough chromebooks for them to have one at home and at school.

Reminder that tomorrow (Jan. 5th) is the first day back to school for students. Grade cards for 2nd quarter will be emailed to student email accounts on Wednesday, January 6th. Please note that the retention list for HJHS is extremely long for this point in the school year and those students who are failing will be retained if grades do not improve this semester. If you are concerned about your child being retained, please consider in-person schooling as opposed to remote learning as there is no substitute for face-to-face education by a licensed teacher.

Parents: This is a reminder about HJHS student grades. Current grade reports went out to your student's email last Tuesday (11/24). You should verify to your student's enrichment teacher that you've seen their grades. There is an assignment in their Google classroom set up to do this OR you can email the teacher. Also, the grading period ends officially on Dec. 11th. Students will be retained this school year if they do not complete their work!

Attention athletes and families: Starting today, Nov. 20th, Herrin CUSD #4 will pause all athletics due to the Governor's tier 3 mitigations. More information will be passed along as it becomes available.

This year, the HJHS Student Council is helping the Herrin scouts with
Scouting for Food. Due to COVID restrictions, scouts are not able to
collect bags door-to-door. Scouting For Food is one of the area’s
largest food drives and is critical for our local food pantry and Herrin
House of Hope. We have distributed blue, Scouting for Food bags to
the students. Those wishing to bring the bags back with food will
return them to SCHOOL this Thursday, where we will collect them
and give them to Scouting For Food on Saturday. Thanks for your
help in this endeavor. Our community needs our help.
We will also have a collection site on Saturday from 9 am - 1 pm at
Southside Lumber.

Good afternoon! This is an update regarding fan attendance at Herrin CUSD #4 Athletic Events.
According to IDPH guidelines, all fans must wear a mask at indoor and outdoor events. Individuals should maintain at least 30 feet distance from any player, coach, or official. We ask that HJHS baseball/softball spectators sit in the outfield. HHS tennis fans may sit in designated areas on the parking lot side. HHS/HJHS cross county and HHS golf spectators may observe from a distance and away from start and finish areas.
Thank you for all of your support in observing IDPH guidelines, so our student athletes may participate this season. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the HHS Activities/Athletics Office.

In order to address a few minor technical issues, we have temporally had to suspend student Google accounts. We will have everything up and running tomorrow morning and no one will be penalized. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Good afternoon Herrin Junior High School Families! I wanted to send a quick update out to those families who have selected remote learning for this semester.
1) Students will need to check their @herrinschools.org email. Teachers have begun enrolling students in their Google Classrooms, and students will need to accept that invitation for each class. Also, if you need access to the student Google account, please send an email to techdesk@herrinschools.org.
2) Meetings with teachers may vary between live, in-person, and recorded for you to watch on your own time.
3) Assignments and projects will be due for remote learning students on or about the same time as students who are in-class. (There will be some leeway this coming week as we establish times for book pick-up.)
4) Attendance will be taken each day that a class meets including all classes on Friday. Attendance is the remote learning student's responsibility to ensure contact.
A "contact" may be a message to the teacher in Google Classroom, the submission of an assignment, or a wellness "check-in" Google Form created by the teacher. Failure to check in results in an absence.
We will release additional information next week to let you know when you will be able to pick up books and needed materials for this semester.
Stay safe and, most importantly, in touch with us!

As more information becomes available, we will certainly try to get it posted on here asap. If you have further questions, ask them in the comments section below and we will try to answer them asap. Just know that everything up to this point has been changing almost daily and our #1 concern is the safety of our students and staff.

Thank you so much to our students and families for your patience as we enter this new school year. We hope this video provides additional help with learning the entrance procedures for HJHS.
