Good afternoon! This is an update regarding fan attendance at Herrin CUSD #4 Athletic Events. According to IDPH guidelines, all fans must wear a mask at indoor and outdoor events. Individuals should maintain at least 30 feet distance from any player, coach, or official. We ask that HJHS baseball/softball spectators sit in the outfield. HHS tennis fans may sit in designated areas on the parking lot side. HHS/HJHS cross county and HHS golf spectators may observe from a distance and away from start and finish areas. Thank you for all of your support in observing IDPH guidelines, so our student athletes may participate this season. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the HHS Activities/Athletics Office.

Good afternoon Herrin Junior High School Families! I wanted to send a quick update out to those families who have selected remote learning for this semester. 1) Students will need to check their @herrinschools.org email. Teachers have begun enrolling students in their Google Classrooms, and students will need to accept that invitation for each class. Also, if you need access to the student Google account, please send an email to techdesk@herrinschools.org. 2) Meetings with teachers may vary between live, in-person, and recorded for you to watch on your own time. 3) Assignments and projects will be due for remote learning students on or about the same time as students who are in-class. (There will be some leeway this coming week as we establish times for book pick-up.) 4) Attendance will be taken each day that a class meets including all classes on Friday. Attendance is the remote learning student's responsibility to ensure contact. A "contact" may be a message to the teacher in Google Classroom, the submission of an assignment, or a wellness "check-in" Google Form created by the teacher. Failure to check in results in an absence. We will release additional information next week to let you know when you will be able to pick up books and needed materials for this semester. Stay safe and, most importantly, in touch with us!

Students dropped off: 8th grade, Southwest door 8th grade wing. 7th grade, commons area - main entrance to gym. 6th grade, Northwest door 6th grade wing. Walkers and bike riders use these same entrances. Bus Riders will arrive between 8-8:30 and proceed to these same entrances. Temps will be taken before students are allowed entry. DISMISSAL...Walkers, bike riders, and car pickups will be released at noon. 6th grade pickups should park in the North lot, 7th & 8th grade pickups should park in either the South lot or the East lot. Students will come to your car. Bus riders will be dismissed as their buses arrive to campus. BACKPACKS ... no lockers will be issued, however, students will be allowed to carry backpacks to class. Students should also bring bottled water with them as water fountains will be inoperable. DEVICES ... Secretaries are working diligently to compose a list of those families who have requested devices at registration. There will be more information on this later this week on how devices will be distributed and signed for by parent/guardian. REMOTE LEARNING ... The process for remote learning will be directed by each teacher. Those who chose the blended option will be instructed in-person if there is an online component to complete. Those fully remote WILL have online portions to complete each day that particular class meets and on Fridays. As more information becomes available, we will certainly try to get it posted on here asap. If you have further questions, ask them in the comments section below and we will try to answer them asap. Just know that everything up to this point has been changing almost daily and our #1 concern is the safety of our students and staff.
