Last Saturday night, the Herrin CUSD #4 Football Field came alive during the 2025 Falling For Fun community night. Families on blankets dotted the field, children laughed as they hustled from face-painting to the hayride, the inflatables, and back again. The smells of fresh cotton candy, warm popcorn, and hotdogs filled the air while the familiar sounds of It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and Monsters, Inc. played on the big screen — movies that children, parents, and grandparents bonded over as cinematic nostalgia transported them back to childhood. The scent of a nearby bonfire drifted on the breeze as families were able to make connections with local outreach agencies. Surrounded by the laughter of families, the reconnection of old friends, and youthful energy, it was clear this was more than just a fun night out; it was a reminder of what makes Herrin so special. Together, the community came alive under the dim autumn sky.
