What an incredible way to kick off the very first day of school at Herrin Elementary! Yesterday, our Tigers gathered for an exciting pep session filled with energy, cheers, and school spirit as students discovered which House they were chosen to join for the year!
The excitement was contagious as students proudly met their new House teammates, celebrated together, and learned that no matter which House they belong to, they are all part of one amazing HES Tiger family.
The smiles, laughter, and enthusiasm made for an unforgettable start to the school year, and we can't wait to see our Houses encourage one another, show kindness, demonstrate leadership, and earn points throughout the year.
Here's to an amazing year of teamwork, school spirit, and making memories!

The SIU STEM Education Research Center brought an exciting hands-on earthquake simulation activity that gave students the opportunity to explore science through interactive learning.
The University of Illinois Prairie Research Institute brought The Traveling Science Center, a 320-square-foot mobile classroom filled with exhibits focused on biodiversity, natural and cultural resources, and environmental stewardship.
Our students had an amazing time learning through these unique, hands-on experiences. We are so grateful for community partners who help make science come alive for our students!
