🇵🇱 Casimir Pulaski Day 🇵🇱
Today we recognize Casimir Pulaski Day, honoring the life and legacy of Casimir Pulaski, a Polish nobleman and military commander who became a hero of the American Revolutionary War.
Pulaski is known as the “Father of the American Cavalry” for his leadership and bravery while fighting for American independence. His courage and dedication to freedom continue to be remembered and celebrated, especially here in Illinois, where this day is officially recognized.
As we observe this day, we reflect on the contributions of those who have fought for liberty and the rich cultural heritage that strengthens our nation. 🇺🇸✨

The IAR and ISA testing window is now open!
Over the next several weeks, students will be participating in the Illinois state assessments. The Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) measures student progress in English Language Arts and Mathematics, while the Illinois Science Assessment (ISA) measures student understanding of science standards.
These assessments give us valuable information about student growth and help guide instruction to best support learning.
Please help your child be prepared by:
✔️ Getting a good night’s sleep
✔️ Eating a healthy breakfast
✔️ Arriving at school on time
✔️ Bringing a charged Chromebook (if applicable)
We are confident our students will do their very best! Thank you for your continued support. 💙

Today, February 17th, we celebrate National Acts of Kindness Day! This is a day dedicated to spreading compassion, empathy, and positivity in our schools and communities. At HES, our students are joining the celebration in a meaningful way!
HES students are honoring National Acts of Kindness Day by writing about how they will show kindness today and throughout the year. Each student shared their personal plan on a heart, which they proudly added to the HES Kindness Tree.
Our Kindness Tree will be displayed in the front foyer of our building as a beautiful reminder to our students, staff, and families of the many ways we can lift one another up. It represents our commitment to creating a school culture rooted in respect, compassion, and care. Not just today, but every single day of the year.
Let’s celebrate National Acts of Kindness Day by choosing to be intentional with our words and actions. A small act of kindness can make a big difference. Together, we can continue to grow a community where kindness truly thrives. 💛
