Academic instruction begins promptly at 8:10 AM, and students are permitted to enter the classroom at 8:00 AM to prepare for their day. If students need to eat breakfast at school, please adjust arrival times accordingly. Arriving late means your child may miss important directions, morning routines, and valuable instructional time.
We understand that mornings can sometimes be challenging, and we want to work together to ensure your child has the best start possible. If there are any barriers preventing your child from getting to school on time, please let us know. Likewise, if there is anything that we can do to support you or your child in arriving on time, we are here to help.
Thank you for partnering with us to make sure your child is set up for success each day. Please feel free to reach out to us with any concerns, questions, or ways we can assist.

Today we celebrate Leif Erikson, the famous Norse explorer believed to be the first European to set foot in North America around the year 1000 β nearly 500 years before Christopher Columbus!
Leif Erikson Day reminds us of the spirit of exploration, bravery, and discovery. Itβs a great opportunity to learn about history, geography, and the cultures that shaped our world. πβ¨
What new things will YOU explore and discover today? π§‘π―

π Fall Break is almost here! Herrin CUSD #4 schools will be closed October 13 β 17.

Every day counts! Regular and punctual attendance is key to student success β and communication is key in helping us support your child!
π If your child will be absent, you must call the school office to report the absence.
π Once students have used their 5 allotted excused absences, proper documentation (such as a doctorβs note) is required for any additional absences.
π« Students identified as being in truancy must provide documentation for every absence showing proof that the student needed to be excused from school.
βοΈ Truancy remains in effect for 180 school days and resets as each step of the process advances.
Letβs work together β because attendance + communication = success! π―πͺ
