Attendance Matters at HES! πΎπ§‘π€
Regular and punctual attendance is critical for your childβs learning and success. We understand that students will get sick from time to time, but please remember:
β
Contact the school office for every absence by 9:00 AM, if possible. If calling before school hours, please leave a message.
β
If your child has more than 5 absences, a doctorβs note will be required stating the reason for the absence and when your child can return to school.
π« Failure to report absences will result in them being marked UNEXCUSED and may lead to involvement with the ROEβs Truancy Program.
Letβs work together to make this a great year of learning and growth! πͺπ

HES & the Herrin Fire Department just wrapped up another successful S.A.F.E. class, ending with an exciting visit to the fire station for hands-on demonstrations!
S.A.F.E. (Students and Firefighters in Education) is the 8-week fire prevention program for 3rd graders, taught by members of the HFD. Throughout the program, students learn valuable fire safety lessons in the classroom, and to celebrate their hard work, HFD treat them to a pizza party followed by a visit to the new station.
This yearβs live demos included Hazardous Materials, Technical Rescue (Rope/High Angle), a Station Tour, Fire Extinguisher training, and a Vehicle Extrication.
They even got a few of the teachers to join in on the fun! THANK YOU SO MUCH HFD!!!!!
